This weekend I have lined up loads of work to be getting on with, and because I’m an idiot I’m doing it with a bit of a sore eye, after I managed to slingshot the spider brooch on my beret into my eye last night just before doing my new character, wine expert “Sam Elier”, as part of Lou Chawner and Amy Botes new night at The Lab – The Berserkers. Sketches, songs, magic, and stand-up!

She’s not meant to be wearing glasses, but it helped cover up how sore my eye felt! Oh, and I absolutely love this picture of her taken by Rebecca Cockroft.

I don’t think I need to head to the eye infirmary, but I will take it easier than I planned tonight and not do heavy reading or editing. I don’t have much left to do on Vivid Worlds for The Slab, and I’m daring to feel rather excited for the launch. Also, feeling quite poor as I’ve now paid for the flights to Belfast. Eek!
Hard to believe it’s more than a week since we headed to Great Yarmouth to join in the Sci-Fi Weekender fun. I had an absolute blast! I didn’t think I would be doing anything on the stage this year, but I got invited onto Just a Minute with m’friends George Coppen, Alex Leam and Bryony Pearce As David J Howe did the topic setting! Not competitive at all, me! Anyway, I won… 🙂

Photo by Selina Lock, and I’ve got a cheeky grin on my face for some reason, he he he…
Honestly, I promise I do have more than one outfit, even if it is the same one I was wearing on Popmaster a few weeks ago. Maybe it’s my lucky dress, though…

Me and Ken Bruce!
Such a lovely man, that Ken Bruce. What a TV team 12 Yard are. Such a shame they have been broken up after making TV for 20 years. At least Popmaster will continue. Best telly I’ve ever done; what a fab day that was.
And, spoiler alert, I’m probably going to wear the same dress tomorrow as I’m running a writing workshop as part of the Kingsthorpe Library opening day. Well it does have books on it! As one of the campaigners for Kingsthorpe Library, after the Tories shut loads of them back in 2018, I am so happy we are finally getting our library back. It looks so inviting and cosy on the pictures!
Anyway, back to SFW, and the title of this blog. After doing the quiz, David gave us badges declaring that SFW is family, and that’s such a lovely thing. It really does feel like family. There’s music, dancing and silliness. It’s so much fun and I absolutely love it. Plus, caravans! I spent lots of time with friends from the world of books and comedy, plus watching Pop Up Puppet Theatre, John Robertson, Victor and the Bully, Crab, Graham Graham Beck, Pirate Pete, and interviews with loads of media peeps, like Paul McGann and Daphne Ashbrook.

I’m trying to decide about next year, should I go because it’s fun? Just because it’s fun? Help me decide, people!
In the next blog, I will let you know what I’m doing at Eastercon, and share more news about Vivid Worlds.
